This is a simulation of the live view from the Orion spacecraft (within 60 seconds). Position and velocity are supplied by NASA AROW telemetry. The Earth, Stars, Moon, Sun, and planets are placed using real orbital mechanics.
Drag to look around. Select a camera lens to zoom. The Eye view is set to a 35mm equivalent lens, to simulate the focal frame of the window.
The spacecraft itself is omitted. It is simply to mimic being able to go up to a window and look out at the view. As the Earth fades away and the Moon comes into view, the viewer feels a connection to our explorers.
